Braces-Friendly Recipe: Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp & Pineapple

We want to congratulate all of our school-aged patients on finishing the school year with a bang! Summer break is here finally and it's time to try some delicious braces-friendly recipes on the grill. We are sharing a recipe today called Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp and Pineapple that we hope you try out soon. If you enjoy a mix of sweet and spicy, succulent shrimp, and juicy pineapple, then this is the perfect recipe to try. Listed below are the ingredients to make an incredible teriyaki sauce, but if you are short on time and want to cut a corner, simply buy a bottle of teriyaki sauce at your local store. (We won't tell!)

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Marinate Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 4

Pineapple and sriracha teriyaki grilled shrimp and pineapple skewers!

Ingredients

For the teriyaki sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoon garlic, grated
  • 2 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (or to taste)

For the teriyaki grilled shrimp and pineapple:

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deviened
  • 1 pineapple, peeled and sliced into 1/2 inch by 2 inch pieces
  • Wooden Skewers

Directions

For the teriyaki sauce:
Simmer everything until the sugar has melted before setting aside to cool.

For the teriyaki grilled shrimp and pineapple:
Marinate the shrimp in the marinade for 30 minutes, skewer the shrimp and pineapple slices and grill over medium-high heat until cooked and slightly charred, about 2-4 minutes per side.
