McFarland Orthodontics wants you to get the most out of your dental coverage, but that takes some planning throughout the year.

Now that we are about halfway through 2017, what are some smart things you should do to best utilize your benefits and planning?

1. Schedule Your Dental Visits

By now you have likely already had one dental visit, but if you haven’t, now is the ideal time to see the dentist. Summer is especially a good time to take your kids to the dentist, because they won’t have to miss school. While you’re at this appointment, don’t forget to schedule the next few appointments, so you don’t have to think about it anymore!

2. Plan Ahead Before Open Enrollment Season

Many employers offer open enrollment at the end of the year, so now is a good time to decide what kind of changes you’ll need to make for the next year. Talk to McFarland Orthodontics and/or your dentist about planning for major dental procedures like braces, dental implants, and wisdom teeth surgery. Talking to your dental health team will give you the chance to decide what coverage changes will be necessary, and allow for time to start budgeting for dental work.

3. Re-Enroll With Important Life Changes

Summertime is wedding season, so you may want to make changes to your plan like adding a spouse to your dental plan. This life change in particular offers a special enrollment period, usually. Other qualifying events for coverage changes include having or adopting a child, moving to a different zip code, and losing coverage.
