Invisalign is a great option for many of our teen patients who value the flexibility and invisibility of clear aligners to straighten their teeth. Invisalign is a low maintenance way to straighten your teeth, but it’s important to understand that you are largely responsible for the success of your orthodontic treatment when you choose Invisalign.
Did you get Invisalign just in time for the new school year? Here are 3 tips on how to ace your Invisalign treatment at school!
Bring a case for your aligners so that you always have a predictable place to put them when you are eating lunch—That way you are less likely to lose them. Put your name on the case to make extra sure that if it gets lost, someone will know it is yours.
Your aligners will get stained over time if you aren’t careful. Prevent this from happening by brushing your teeth and aligners after each lunch period. If you put your aligners back in without brushing, it could cause very rapid tooth decay, and a new smile full cavities is the last thing that you want. Keep a toothbrush and toothpaste in your locker for every day use.
Only take your aligners off to eat lunch while you are at school. They need to be worn all the time except to eat and brush, about 22 hours a day. The only way you will get the results you are after is to wear your aligners as directed. There is a “compliance indicator” on the aligners, which is a little blue dot that fades as you wear it. This shows your orthodontist that you have been wearing your aligners.
